I have accepted an unconditional offer to study MSc Crime and Forensic Science at University College London, following a recent completion of my undergraduate Biomedical Science degree at the University of Southampton, achieving a 2:1 overall. I successfully completed a foundation year in Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics, followed by two years of Neuroscience. Modules such as Cell Biology (2:1), Immunology (2:1), Pharmacology (2:1), Cell Signalling in Health and Disease (First), Biomedical Parasitology (First) and Psychology (2:1) reinforced my understanding of biological systems, external influences on behaviour and the interpretation of scientific data as evidence, developing my analytical thinking and scientific discipline.
I am drawn to the intersection of behaviour and investigation, where analytical reasoning, laboratory and practical investigation are applied directly to real-world problems; I aspire to a Master's level qualification in forensic science and future career as a forensic researcher and practitioner, contributing to evidence examination and laboratory interpretation.
Bar and Floor Staff at Slug and Lettuce (2024 – 2024)
I worked in a fast-paced hospitality team in a busy public house and restaurant, taking on both bar and floor responsibilities. My service duties included preparing and serving drinks, clearing tables efficiently, and ensuring customer needs were met under relevant allergy and dietary requirements. The role required excellent communication and adaptability, and the ability to stay calm under the pressures of high-volume footfall.
I enjoyed the pressure and social connection, contributing to a smooth and professional customer driven team.
Cafe Barista and Reception Monitor at Monkey Bizness (2024 – 2024)
Monkey Bizness is a child and toddler play zone where I took a short-term contract around my studies. My duties were predominantly as a cafe barista, making coffees for patrons and selling cakes and branded merchandise, and as a monitor for reception and entry. These roles developed my customer-facing and service skills, and nurtured my governance capacity, as we worked as a team to ensure the children were safely occupied at all times.
This short surge of employment helped build my leadership, diligence and communication confidence.
Front of House Volunteer at Brewhouse Theatre (2022 – 2022)
The Brewhouse is a thriving stage theatre in Taunton which relies on voluntary staff to support production capacity. I successfully volunteered to join the front of house team, guiding people to their seats (usher), answering enquiries, selling and checking tickets in the box office, providing directions, addressing customer complaints and allocating refunds. I gained valuable experience in customer relations and conflict resolution, and reinforced my sales and teamwork confidence, whilst benefiting from contributing to the quality shows that the Brewhouse hosted.
Volunteer - Youth Innovation at Nord Anglia (2016 – 2018)
I volunteered to conduct expeditionary trips through Nord Anglia to help build schools in under-privileged communities in Sri Lanka, Tanzania and Nepal. We built energy efficient stoves, installed electricity, built relationships and mutual understanding with tribal leaders and trekked the Himalayas. These were eye opening and humbling experiences that grew my understanding and respect of different cultures.
These experiences were enriching and fulfilling, during which I reflected on my own global impact and exceptional privilege.
