Project Name: Investigation of the effect of BN (boron nitride) use on tribological properties of non-asbestos polymer matrix composite brake shoes.

• Formulated polymer composite formulations with varying BN percentages to investigate the effect of BN on mechanical and tribological properties using a scientific approach.
• Produced samples from the designed formulations using powder metallurgy technique.
• Conducted mechanical tests (3-point bending, compression test, tensile test, hardness test) and thermal tests (TGA, DSC) on the samples to ensure their suitability.
• Analysed the results of tribology tests performed on suitable samples under specified standards, selected materials based on the results, optimised the formulation and reached the optimum recipe.
• Analysed the surface roughness and thermal fatigues caused by high temperature and friction of the wear surfaces of the counter metallic disc material after tribology tests.
• Produced prototypes from the optimum material composition obtained after all tests and carried out field tests.

Achievements:

• Successfully addressed product failure by implementing compositional enhancements, leading to a 15% reduction in production cost while maintaining performance. 
• Optimised prototype production processes, achieving a 20% time savings per unit and increasing overall output.
• Took on the full responsibilities of a colleague on medical leave for 6 months, ensuring seamless continuity of tasks and project completion.
