For a living, I bridge the gap between creative design and technical manufacturing, specialising in the knitwear industry. My work covers the entire design lifecycle, from a client's initial idea to a fully programmed production file.
Here is a brief overview of my services:
Creative Partnership & Design: I work directly with clients to design custom artwork, understanding their brand and vision. Using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, I create compelling graphics, logos, and patterns tailored for fashion, sports, or licensed brands.
Technical Pattern Conversion: Once a design is approved, I meticulously translate the flat graphic artwork into a "pixel pattern"—a detailed, grid-based format that an industrial knitting machine can understand, ensuring the design's integrity.
Stoll Knit Programming: I program this pixelation using specialised software, primarily Stoll M1plus and Create Lite. This ensures the design is perfectly adapted for knitting, accounting for yarn, colour, and machine capabilities.
Product Specialisation: I provide all the technical preparation to turn a creative concept into a high-quality knitted product, such as scarves, jumpers, hats, blankets, or cushions.
My professional experience is a unique hybrid of creative design, technical IT, and specialised manufacturing. As a Senior Technical Designer, I managed everything from creating graphic artwork for major clients like Manchester City and Marvel to administering the company's Microsoft 365 and SharePoint IT systems. A key part of my role was technical knitwear programming, where I converted graphic designs into pixel patterns and programmed them for production using Stoll M1plus and Create Lite.
I also have hands-on experience in PC hardware repair, project management, and product photography.
