I am currently qualified as a Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) with the Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC) and have 20 years' experience within the organization which I am currently employed. I have gained invaluable experience within both the Older Persons' Directorate and Adult Mental Health Services Directorate and I am now looking to broaden my horizons and further develop my career on a personal and professional basis. My current remit is within the Rehabilitation and Recovery Sector; our main purpose is to work with and help service users aged between (25-65 years old) with complex mental health issues to move on into more independent accommodation, (usually between a 1-3 year timeframe), this is achieved by building, developing and maintaining necessary skills of Activities of Daily Living (ADL).
We also focus on assisting service users to get back into work and educational settings, rebuild their social networks, friendships and relationships with both external and internal agencies. I believe that it is important and key to identify that everyone's needs are different and that everyone's 'recovery journey' is different; therefore, I am always looking for fresh challenges and will endeavour to independently attend any relevant training and accomplish relevant study (classroom or distance learning) to reach my goals and indeed to meet the needs of service users, fellow peers and any potential employment within your organization. I strongly feel that I have the right attributes, skills and extensive knowledge to be an asset to your organization.

In 2023, the Crisis House Service was introduced. We work closely with The Gateshead/Newcastle Crisis Resolution & Home Treatment Team – this service was set up as an alternative to reduce hospital admissions. This is a very challenging but rewarding part of mental health nursing.
