Caitlin Smith

I am a University student at the University of Sunderland studying networking and cybersecurity! I am just starting my 2nd year and looking to assist my studies by working in IT which is my passion!

I have been working for LNER as a customer solutions representative for 8 months now, this involves responding to customer emails, taking inbound calls and making outbound calls to response customer cases.

I have also been volunteering for IT service desk for LNER over the summer in their head office based in York. This involved assisting others in the company with their technical issues, taking tickets and resolving them in the most efficient way possible. I then also spent time shadowing the Information security team who ensure that there is no cyber attacks and maintaining the systems.

I have done work experience with AKZONOBEL paint factory in ashington, I worked with the IT team, assembling new machines for employees, taking calls and going around the building to fix IT issues as they are reported to me.

I am currently doing a cybersecurity and networking Bachelors at uni, this involved many aspects of IT and networking such as CISCO qualifications, training and building networks. Computer programming and software development in java, C# and python code to make useful applications. Also website development involving the use of PHP.
