Final year law student studying the LLB course, wishing to pursue a career in corporate or commercial law. Currently predicted a high 2.1. During my studies at University of Law (Bristol) I have consistently received excellent results in a variety of topics. Throughout my studies I have gained practical work experience through shadowing a Barrister, part time work, as well as completing pro bono work. I am keen and ambitious and want the opportunity to progress into a legal career.
Amnesty International campaign: The campaign was to assist a Ugandan Pastor, who was being held in detention in Texas. At risk of death in the camp due to health vulnerabilities, I was part of a team tasked with lobbying the Field Officer of the camp to appeal for his release. I was tasked with conducting research on various international treaties and American laws, whilst other team members worked on other legal arguments. As a result of our efforts, the campaign was successful, and the Pastor was released.
Streetlaw Project: this ongoing project is designed to educate young people regarding key topics. Working in virtual teams due to COVID 19 (my first experience of working virtually), we were given a few weeks to prepare an oral presentation. We had to overcome the difficulties of never having met, to prepare a compelling presentation. My group was assigned redundancy. I took a leadership role and distributed the different areas for my team to work on. Together we came up with a presentation that feedback stated was interesting, insightful and informative.
Shadowing a Barrister: I have been fortunate enough to secure the opportunity to shadow (and be mentored) by a Barrister as he represents his clients for Kings Bench Chambers. I have found this extremely informative and have assisted in an administrative and supporting capacity in court including meeting clients.
