Almost all my work experience includes taking care of others in some capacity, e.g.
in primary schools, taking care of my grandmother, as an AuPair, and now I have been volunteering for Childcare and Samaritans for 6 months. Through all of this I have learned to take care of other people, but through Childline and Samaritans I have specifically learned how to care for people with mental health issues. This includes identifying the type of care each client would need, followed by catering the response to meet their need.
Through my BSc Psychology, I developed my knowledge of mental health by studying subjects such as addictive behaviours, mental health distress and counselling psychology. Through my MSc I learned more in-depth knowledge and studied subjects such as Adult Mental Health, Professional Issues,
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, and Family Therapy. This knowledge will be useful in navigating a range of mental health difficulties, as I can understand predisposing factors, perpetuating factors, and types of treatments
