Lana Meakin. When I was worked as a childminder I was also a joint licence holder for Ilkeston Rugby Club, here I was responsible for bar and kitchen management. I held a lot of responsibilities such as cashing up, wages, banking and closure procedures. I also was responsible for all the behind the scenes roles; organising events, taking phone bookings, stock control and cleaning the equipment.

I have also worked as a Nursery Nurse and have gained a Level 2 NVQ in childcare, I worked at the Rocking Horse Day Nursery in Ilkeston, from this job I gained many qualifications and new skills. Some of these included closely supervising children (2-3 years). I enjoyed interacting with the children, making myself approachable, friendly and honest. I had to keep up a good relationship with all the parents and was able to reflect on their child’s development.

My Responsibilities were making sure that the daily working routine ran smoothly, Delegating tasks and jobs to employees and preparing orders ready to be done. I needed to be ready for overcoming interruptions and able to sort anything that may come up, quickly and efficiently.
