Cassidy Manthey

My name is Cassidy Manthey, I am an Admitted Attorney of the High Court of South Africa. I have been practicing as an Associate for the past year at Ndlovu de Villiers Attorneys, an environmental specialist law firm based in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. I served my articles of clerkship at Ndlovu de Villiers Attorney and was retained at the firm as an associate as of November 2022.

Completing my articles and subsequently being retained as an associate in a small and dedicated law firm has allowed me to closely shadow both the senior and managing partner and be fully integrated in all legal aspects and processes, for each case, from the ground up. Working closely with the senior and managing partner has given me the advantage of being exposed, on a daily basis, to technical, diverse and complex legal matters. The senior and managing partner have shown immense trust in me and my abilities, affording me the opportunity to have overall control and responsibility of matters and to directly attend to consultations, drafting and correspondence.

I have full rights to work in the UK and I have relocated to the UK in December 2023. I have relocated overseas to explore new opportunities in the environmental and planning legal sector. This move aligns with my professional and personal aspirations, allowing me to immerse myself in a different legal environment and gain diverse experiences.

I am eager to contribute my skills and knowledge to an international setting by actively participating in initiatives that promote sustainability and conservation while fostering personal and career growth. The decision to explore opportunities abroad reflects my commitment to continuous learning and adaptability, seeking to broaden my legal expertise and understanding of different legal systems. I am excited about the challenges and opportunities that come with this change and believe it will enhance my overall professional development in the legal field.

I am driven to exceed expectations and I am not afraid of hard work or long hours. I wish to pursue a career in Environmental and Planning law. I am determined to become a valuable resource to any employer and will always strive to give more.

I am amenable to working in any city and gaining further skills and qualifications to meet the company requirements. I intend on completing the Solicitors Qualifying Examination in order to practice as a Solicitor. I am only required to pass the SQE 1 in order to practice as a Solicitor.
