A specialist solar investment fund with offices in London, Spain, Italy and India. Spent just under a week exploring the group's various subsidiaries NextEnergy Capital, WiseEnergy and Starlight through shadowing and classroom-esque learning. Learnt about asset management, ESG policy as well as picking up some basic skills in softwares like Excel.
Work shadowing at XY Capital (2023-07 – 2023-07)
A quantitative trading firm based in Hong Kong with a London office in Chancery Lane. Sat with various employees in the company for 5 days in different departments such as trading, legal, IT and office management. Learnt about the differences between proprietary trading and hedge funds as well as the different forms of trading including High Frequency Trading (HFT) and DR (Depository Receipt).
Work shadowing at Waterloo Legal Advice Service (2023-02 – 2023-02)
A weekly pro bono clinic where people can seek legal advice and assistance. Sat with an advisor helping a woman about her unemployment and if she should pursue a court case. Learnt requirements of unfair unemployment and how legal consultancy roughly works.
Student at Debate Chamber Young Lawyers (2022-08 – 2022-08)
A weeklong course on mainly Criminal and Family Law. Learnt how to classify between manslaughter and murder and what their differences and similarities are. Learnt certain criteria, such as Actus Reus and the Mens Rea, must be fulfilled for situations to be considered as a certain crime; what common law and statutes are and how they are passed.
Student - InvestIN Law Course at InvestIN (2021-08 – 2021-08)
A 10-day course that introduced the student to Law. Learnt about the various types of Law and how they differ, like the differences between Tort and Criminal Law; as well as how one pursues a career in the legal field. During this course, there were multiple role plays which provided the opportunity to be part of a Jury or play the role of a barrister, which gave insight to how trials worked and the responsibilities of the different roles in a proceeding.
Tutoring various neighbouring children for their 7 and 11+ exams in areas such as maths and english.
Volunteer at The Neurodiversity Family Hub (Present)
Helping run a playgroup of neurodivergent or autistic children aged 5 - 15+.
