Maintaining plumbing systems, within the hospital for the NHS, tasks vary from reactive, which are, blocked and faulty toilets, to dripping and faulty taps, to shower faults, drain blockages, and installation of new sanitaryware which ranges from toilets to wash hand basins, due to old ones being unpresentable to the hospital. Also, within This role also comes with planned preventative maintenance (PPM'S) jobs which are temperature checks, TMV checks, and drain checks. Between ppm's and reactive tasks, their also 15-minute response jobs that had to be attended to within 15 minutes of the job being called out, these 15-minute jobs are usually reactive jobs, which are usually emergency plumbing issues, that range from, overflown drains, to serious leaks or floods.
These are all the various tasks and plumbing issues that are performed daily within the hospital.

During this 2 months contract, I worked as a plumber mate/ improver on site doing, 1st fitting pipe work and drainage for kitchen and bathroom installation on a block of flats, these included, wash hand basins, showers, and toilets, using PVC pipe plastic to connect the mains into the fittings, this was done with pex plastic pipe, which had to be deburd, and install crimp fittings into the pipe, which later on was crimped, using battery powered crimp machine to crimp the fittings together, this contract came to an end due to project ending by management.

During this 6-month contract, doing office refurbishment in which all the sanitary and heating systems, which were 1st and 2nd fitting we're removed and installation of new systems. Within this process was the reading of blue print drawings to mark out were the wash hand basins, toilets and shower would be located. First installation process was marking out the walls 100mm across and 80mm up and down to fit the 22mm and 15mm hinged pipe clips which would be used to clips the pipes connected to the mains on each floor from the risers.
This method was done by using SDS drill to drill the marks in wall in order to input wall plugs, in which the hinges clips would be screwed into with an impact driver. After all the clips were installed, was the installation of speed fit pipes, which started off from the Plumber mains. The mains had 28mm copper installation, which meant that a 28*22 mm copper reducer was installed and soldered into the pipe, and at the 22mm end of the copper pipe was the installation of the speed fit 22mm reducer into the copper, and speed fit pipe installation continued from there.

Installation of 1st fittings, including 32mm waste pipe installation for the wash hand basins, into 100mm cast iron soil pipe, with a 32*25mm PVC reducer pipe. The 100mm cast iron soil pipe, is being implemented as a waste pipe for the toilet and wash hand basin. Within these tasks was the installation of cold and hot water 22mm copper pipes, from the main risers into the wash hand basins and toilets, which involved the implementation of 22mm red and blue ball valves for the 22mm pipe, This involved using the Milwaukee M18 compact crimper, to crimp the ball valves to the pipes.

Within this role was to undergo health and safety rules within the construction site, assist other trades with their jobs, direct mobile traffic within sites and report any deliveries and general administrative issues to the site manager. The role also included lifting plaster boards, helping scaffolders take down the scaffolding towers, general cleaning and tidying the site, and ensuring the site was secured and locked up at the end of each shift.

Within this role, was to undergo a full garden refurbishment on a client's garden, which involved transforming old lawn turfs into new one. The method involved in this type of job was using a turf cutter, to remove the old turf, a rotavator machine to dig out the old soil, a rake to even out the old soil being dug out by the rotavator machine, and new pieces of lawn turf, which was implemented, using a wheelbarrow into clients' garden, all of which involved intense manual labouring skills.
