I have been interested in science since secondary school (high school), especially human biology and genetics. My undergraduate years developed this interest, particularly in the way DNA and gene expression is modified through cell signalling and epigenetics, especially in cancer survival and tumorigenesis. My mother being diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer during my first undergraduate year strengthened my resolve to apply myself into cancer research.
Carrying out my masters at Imperial has given me the opportunity to carry out research and tackle scientific problems independently. My work developing a biosensor centered protocol for circulating tumor DNA fragment detection via flow cytometry has been motivating.
