Charlie Reid

My name is Charlie Reid, and I am a freelance travel writer and film photographer. Following completion of the Travel & Freelance Writing Course at the London School of Journalism in 2022, I begun pitching and writing articles for companies such as Wanderdash, Middle East Traveller and GVI. I recently completed my BA (hons) degree in Geography and Sociology with a 2.1 grade from Newcastle University.

I was the sub-editor and a writer for the travel section of the Newcastle University student paper, The Courier. I am looking for freelance writing roles at the moment.

I have worked as a freelance photographer and travel writer for over 2 years now. I have written for companies such as Wanderdash, GVI and Middle East Traveller. I have done film photography and videography for weddings, nightlife and charity events across Oxfordshire and Newcastle Upon Tyne.

This has all been done during 2021-2024 alongside my university degree and virtual journalism course with LSJ, as well as being sub-editor of the university newspaper which prints fortnightly, highlighting my ability to multitask and juggle multiple commitments. I have undergone internships in communications and marketing with small business, Everywhere Garden. In July 2024 I relocated to Phnom Penh for 5 weeks to undergo an internship with the International Coalition of Sites of Conscience, where I was in charge of writing and editing grant proposals for Cambodian NGO, Youth for Peace.

Graduated from Newcastle University with a BA (hons) in Geography and Sociology with a 2.1 grade in July 2024. I focused on human related characteristics and issues in class, race, sexuality and place based inequalities.
