I have been working in Graphic Design for the past two years, specialising in sports scarves and merchandise for large scale sporting events and global sports teams. I am proficient in Adobe softwares such as Photoshop, Illustrator and Indesign. I have excellent communication skills, having worked in teams of various sizes, as well as liaising with clients and customers in order to deliver products to the highest possible standard.
My most recent role required me to not only design high quality sports scarves but oversee the production in our factory. Being a hands on and the in-house production designer, these responsibilities included ensuring that machines were running, quality checking the scarves, and prepping for shipment. Seeing the design through from concept to physical sampling and shipment delivery.
I also gained manager experience, being tasked to run the factory and oversee the production, manage the factory staff, and ensure tight deadlines were met and clients received their deliveries on time, proving my time and workflow management skills. Whilst I am extremely passionate about sports, I also have a great interest in the performing arts, theatre and music in particular. I am also a keen photographer which has extended into volunteer work for large scale sporting events.
I have recently moved from Birmingham to Edinburgh and looking for my next Graphic Design role.
My professional experience has predominantly been within the sporting industry. Starting with summer camps while home from university to working as a lifeguard between my Undergraduate degree and Masters degree, I have always been most interested in sport. Most recently I have been working as a Graphic Designer within the sports merchandising industry, producing sports scarves, frames and textiles.
As the only designer based in the UK in the company, I was tasked with overseeing all UK based projects and customers, working on various projects at a time and meeting tight deadlines and fast turn around times. Our main business being with large football clubs and competitions across Europe, I learnt the importance of brand identity and adhering to customer guidelines to ensure products were received well by fans. Working within a small team meant I was able to gain manager experience running the factory.
This included ensuring all machinery was working, stock was prepared, quick game turn arounds were met and the factory staff understood their job lists. This was all expected whilst keeping my job list up to date and liaising with customer requests. Whilst working as a lifeguard I was also able to step up and lead a small team, managing tasks around the leisure centre and providing cover for shift work.
I graduated my Masters of Architecture in 2023. Despite studying architecture, one of the key qualities of design is to present and sell your work to customers. In studying architecture you gain a vast array of transferable skills including graphic design.
During my Masters I worked in a small team producing the graphic approach to the MArch graduate show as well as designing the newspaper highlighting each project from the year. I was also a graphic representative for the Research Conference at Birmingham City University, designing the conference programme, marketing content and capturing the day through photography.
