I studied at Napier University from 2002 to 2006 and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree with Honours in design. Since graduating I’ve been working as a graphic designer, at a couple of busy studios full time (12 years) and as a freelancer (5 years). Working for commercial clients and public sector organisations.
My past work provided the opportunity to work on many types of media - brochures, magazines, advertising, and more. Also for a diverse range of clients. Much of the time this meant working within a particular client’s brand guidelines and style whilst creating original designs.
All of this was achieved using Adobe Creative Cloud for document layout, digital illustration and photo editing. This has led to my achieving a very good skill level in Adobe applications Indesign, Photoshop and Illustrator.
Whilst I’ve done a lot of my design work in print I’ve also worked on screen and web based projects. I always keep myself open to learning new skills and techniques in other packages and areas.
Over my past 17 years I’ve taken responsibility for projects from brief to concept through to final delivery. Liaising with clients and external resource suppliers such as printers, photographers and copywriters. Working on multiple projects at one time has taught me how to plan and prioritise tasks effectively in order to meet (often very tight) production schedules.
