As an Associate Medical Director, I work closely with life science companies to shape scientific strategies, and ensure the delivery of high-quality deliverables. I have worked across a range of therapeutic areas (multiple sclerosis, depression, rheumatology, rare diseases, dermatology, ulcerative colitis) and deliverables (manuscripts, abstracts, posters, workshops, scientific narratives, symposia), as writer, reviewer, and performing QCs. Before entering medical communication, I was a Deputy Editor at a scientific journal, ensuring the publication of scientifically sound high-quality research articles.
I currently lead the scientific side of several of CMC Connect’s accounts, developing both publications-related content (posters, abstracts, manuscripts, a podcast, and plain-language summaries) and medical affairs content (slide decks, surveys, and educational materials). I am responsible for managing timelines, writer resourcing, reviewing content and mentoring writers. In addition, I regularly lead calls with our clients.
In my role I have also directly developed content myself, including graphical abstracts, slide-decks, posters, and content for pitches. I also regularly quality check content, ensuring that all references and data are accurate, which requires a high level of attention to detail. I have worked across a range of therapeutic areas, including psychiatry, neuroscience, rare disease, inflammation, hepatology disease, and women's health.
I have a PhD from Queen Mary University of London, focused on Biochemistry. The aim of the project was to elucidate the role of metal homeostasis in Alzheimer’s disease pathology, using a broad range of biophysical techniques; we demonstrated that copper and zinc ions influence Aβ(1-42) misfolding, with copper potentiating membrane disruption.
