Carer at Golding Grange Care Home (2018-01 – 2020-12)
Before lockdown, I volunteered at Golding Grange, which is a care home for adults with learning difficulties. Here, I would keep the residents occupied with arts and crafts whilst also acting as an emotional support. As well as this, I provided cups of tea, coffee and made the residents their specific choice of snack. I also leaned basic Makaton, a form of sign language which helped me communicate with the residents more clearly.
Entertainer / Busker at Various (Weddings, Events, Charity Events, Care Homes) (2017-01 – Present)
Throughout the years, I have offered my singing services to a variety of organisations. I began this journey with busking, which I still do when I am home. I love the excitement of meeting new people and entertaining for such a variety of ages.
Every year in the holiday period, I sing for local care homes and spend some time meeting and getting to know the residents. I also sing for weddings and special occasions. These opportunities show me the importance of good quality service and the skill to be adaptable and open to change.
