Planner - Harte Woodworking
(2025-01)
- As part of a team of planners I take concepts from the design team and mould them into workable manufacturing drawings and a complete BOM and cut list for the shop floor to work to.
- As part of my role I also create client drawings and renders for customer visuals and sign off documents.
- Working with a PDM system and an RDS system I create detailed BOM and cut lists, checking stock levels and liaising with purchasing to make sure the company has enough stock to complete orders and also creating EWR forms for external works to be carried out for things like Powdercoating and glass, metalwork fabrication.
- As member of the team with a more advanced knowledge of Solidworks I have also help others with solidworks support, I am also responsible for the creation and up keep of library features to improve the teams workflow efficiency.
Draughtsman / Admin Assistant - Rapid Eps
(2024-06 - 2024-12)
- As the company Draughtsman I was required to create technical drawings for the welding and fabrication departments to follow, this included making amends to existing drawings and creating new ones where AutoCAD and creating renders using Keyshot.
- As Admin assistant to the Production Manager I was responsible for logging time sheets and handing out job packs to the relevant departments. I took part in production meetings chairing them as and when I was required.
- I was also responsible for elements of Quality Control measuring and check components against technical drawings and checking coating thickness's.
- On top of my main responsibilities I was also in charge of the companies stock which required me to be on the shop floor and interacting with the various departments to make sure stock levels were maintained. This included ordering stock with suppliers and third parties and organising stock to be manufactured on the shop floor.
- Training - While at Rapid I took on the role of the company Responsible Welding Coordinator (RWC) this required me to be in daily contact with the welders and quality checking their work and making sure their welds meet the company's WPS. I also took on the responsibilities of Fire Marshal and First Aider, to take these roles on I had to complete a series of training courses.
Designer - Squarehaus
(2024-03 - 2024-06)
- As the sole designer I used a piece of software called Cabinet Vision to take motorhome layouts from clients and output them for cutting on the CNC.
- My role also involved creating marketing material to boost sales of our products on places like Ebay and Facebook as well as website content.
- On top of my agreed role I was also involved in organising the CNC operator and shop floor staff to make sure stock levels were maintained and that our products are sent out on time. This included allocating work to staff and organising pick up and delivery of stock items and products to clients.
CAD Technician - Hadley Interiors
(2023-08 - 2024-03)
- Working on projects for the hospitality and museum sectors I was part of a team of three CAD Technicians taking projects from launch meetings all the way through to optimising and programming files for the CNC.
- My role at Hadley's involved using Solidworks for the modelling and technical drawings and Swood CAM for the processing for CNC.
- Part of my role involved attending site visits and meetings with clients to gain a better understanding of a project and client expectations.
Draughtsman - BJS
(2022-10 - 2023-08)
- As a draughtsman at BJ Stainless I work an a variety of bespoke projects working with sheet metal and metal extrusions.
- The role required me to have a good understanding of building regulations when it comes to fall prevention and building access.
- While being a draughtsman for BJ Stainless I believe I have expanded on my knowledge of working with metals and my all round fabrication knowledge.
- I would often go beyond my roles description into compiling and supplying estimations to clients and attending on site meetings with clients.
CAD Designer - Various
(2022-04 - 2022-10)
- This period was taken up by a series of temporary positions which I felt were good opportunities to expand my knowledge of Solidworks and the manufacturing industry.
CAD Designer / Estimator - Concept Data Display
(2019-07 - 2022-04)
- This role required me to design, render 3D visuals, create technical drawings and graphics.
- Not only this I was also compiling cost estimations and producing cut ready CNC files for jobs that come from both the sales team or direct from a client.
- The brief varied from email information all the way to having a sample to work to.
- To complete these tasks I used a blend of Solidworks, Illustrator, Photoshop and Keyshot.
- The products I worked on required me to have a good knowledge of manufacturing processes for wood, plastic and metals.
Designer - Whiteghyll
(2014-04 - 2019-07)
- Working as a studio designer under the studio manager I created client specific designs, renders and technical drawings as well as files that are print, CNC and manufacture ready.
- This role also required me to create 3D visual packs for client sign off, Creating cut files for the CNC machines, checking and proofing supplied artwork and ensuring it is print ready.
- One moment I was particularly proud of while working for Whiteghyll was convincing the Directors that investing in CAD software would be beneficial to the company and as such the invested in Solidworks.
