I am a keen, conscientious, hardworking and reliable person used to taking instruction for tasks and job roles with a mature attitude. I am a good timekeeper, I am able to get on well with my colleagues, I have a friendly manner and can work either on my own or part of a team.
I have enjoyed the varying experiences I have gained through working in the Dearne Valley College kitchen and restaurant and my time at McDonalds and KFC
I have always been interested in cooking and in particular baking. Growing up I enjoyed helping my grandmother with baking scones, buns and cakes.
December 2022 – Current KFC Manvers
My role included preparing burgers, fries and sides and batch cook chicken. I also handed out orders to customers waiting in the car park as well as cleaning duties.
December 2017 – December 2022 McDonalds Canklow
My duties whilst at McDonalds included working on the line, batch chicken and batch meat preparation.
September 2015 – Meadowview Care Home
I undertook 2 weeks volunteering at Meadowview Car Home assisting in the kitchen helping to prepare meals for the residents as well as general duties in the kitchen such as cleaning, receiving stock deliveries.
October 2013 – January 2014 My Place Rotherham
As part of a Job Seekers/Wise Ability placement I spent 3 months working as a Kitchen Assistant at the busy My Place cafe in Rotherham. My duties including preparing various food orders as well as ensuring the various work areas were always clean and a safe place to work, that the chefs had all the ingredients and equipment they needed.
2011 – 2013 The Griffin Restaurant Dearne Valley College
I was responsible for food preparation tasks in the kitchen working at different food stations, making sure the supervisors had all they needed. I was also responsible for cleaning the restaurant and the kitchen after closing making sure all areas were cleaned down with ingredients and equipment put away correctly. As well as working as part of the restaurant team I also had to work on my own initiative and had to consider health, safety and hygiene for customers, colleagues and myself at all times.
My duties in the restaurant included preparation and setting of tables, welcoming customers and taking orders, collecting and serving meals. I would deal with queries and comments from the customers, take payments and clear away tables.
I particularly exceled with barista skills and received numerous compliments.
Whilst this was experience within a college environment and was part of the catering course, the restaurant and therefore the kitchen was run as a commercial venture. As such the environment was often intense as we often had a full restaurant of paying customers
