Daniel Ejie

Computer Science graduate (2:1) who likes the part of a problem where raw, messy data has to be pulled in, cleaned up and turned into something a person can actually make a decision on, and who would rather explain the result in plain English than hide behind the jargon.

My final year project was exactly that: ingest live data from an external API, process the nested JSON behind it, transform it and serve it through REST endpoints, then put the trends in front of the user. My degree covered database systems and SQL, cloud, machine learning and networking, and a technology consulting internship gave me the client side of it. I am now on UST's graduate data engineering programme, building on that foundation with Python, SQL, PySpark and Databricks, and I am keen to keep taking real ownership early and learning from people who know more than I do.

• Building practical data engineering skills in Python, SQL, PySpark and Databricks, including notebook development and Delta Lake, on UST's structured graduate programme.
• Applying data warehousing, data modelling and pipeline development principles through hands on labs and end to end case studies that mirror real client delivery.
• Working to industry practice on data quality, governance and performance optimisation, alongside experienced data engineers in an Agile delivery environment.

Technology Consulting Intern at Practera (2026-06 – 2026-07)

• Researched a live business challenge set by an employer and gathered the evidence that shaped the recommendation my team put forward.
• Met industry representatives to clarify what they needed, give progress updates and present the findings to a non-technical audience.
• Documented the analysis clearly enough for the client to act on and split the work across the team to hit agreed deadlines.

• Work independently through full shifts on handheld systems, meeting strict accuracy and productivity targets without supervision.
• Resolve issues as they arise and communicate outcomes clearly. Fitted shifts around full-time study for two years.
