I took a great interest in the psychological field during my degree and decided that I would like to pursue a career within the Psychology field. To pursue my career further and gain more experience I decided to study my Master's in Psychology at Teesside University. After graduating from Teesside University I started my career with the InsideOut Mental Health Support Team in 2023 as a Trainee Education Mental Health Practitioner.
In this job role I completed a second postgraduate diploma at Northumbria University studying 'Mental Health and Educational Wellbeing Studies In The Education Environment. I completed this degree alongside my job to become a qualified Education Mental Health Practitioner accredited by the BABCP. I graduated from Northumbria University in 2024.
Previously, I have worked as a special educational needs teaching assistant at Outwood Academy Acklam. In this job role I support students with behavioural, physical or learning difficulties. I also observe dyslexia screenings and conduct interventions with students regarding racism, bullying and behavioural issues.
In this job role I got the opportunity to work on a one to one basis with the school's educational psychologist to get some experience and understanding into the job role. I previously worked as a learning support worker under the ETC education learning facilities. In this job role I work with individuals who struggle with education and have learning disabilities such as autism, ADHD and Dyslexia.
Besides having worked with young adults with a variety of learning needs, I have also been involved with numerous projects, group works and presentations from which I have gained valuable, transferable skills such as communications, time management and prioritising workload.
Education Mental Health Practitioner - InsideOut Mental Health Support Team

I have been in my current position as an Education Mental Health Practitioner for 2 years and 8 months. I started off as a Trainee Education Mental Health Practitioner whilst completing a postgraduate diploma to become a qualified Education Mental Health Practitioner. I completed this degree in 2024 and have been a qualified practitioner accredited by the BABCP since.
In this job role I support children and young people with mild to moderate mental health needs by delivering low-intensity cognitive behavioural therapy informed interventions. I also work with parents providing the parent-led cognitive behavioural therapy intervention following the Manchester Model. I conduct assessments to determine the most appropriate support for the child or young person to access.
I also work within school providing workshops tailored to meet the needs of students' mental health. This is to promote early intervention strategies to improve emotional wellbeing.
SEN Teaching Assistant - Outwood Academy Acklam

I worked as a full time SEN teaching assistant whilst I finished my masters degree in Psychology. In this job role I adapted teaching support according to the students' needs. I made sure that all of the students' physical, emotional and social needs were looked after at all times.
I sat in on regular dyslexia screenings to get experience and a wider understanding of dyslexia. I regularly conducted one to one and group interventions for students who had displayed racist and bullying behaviours towards other students. In these interventions I would sit down with the students and have them go through a booklet and explain to them how their behaviour was not acceptable and how they are expected to behave and treat their peers.

Learning Support Assistant - ETC education learning facilities

I worked as a part time learning support assistant for 1 year while doing my master's degree. In this job role I support students who have additional needs while attending college. I mainly work aside students who have autism, ADHD, and other learning disabilities.
While I have been in this job role it has given me the opportunity to understand and learn about many different disabilities and how these can influence an individual's everyday life. In this job role I do my best to ensure the individuals who struggle with the education setting get the most out of their education, so they feel more confident in the education environment.
Retail Sales Assistant - Sports Direct

I worked part-time as a retail sales assistant at Sports Direct for 2 years while attending University. In this job role I helped assist customer's needs while providing outstanding customer service. I ensured that the shop floor was consistently kept clean and was compliant with health and safety regulations. I took part in stock counts and labelling which taught me the importance of reliability and teamwork.

In this job role I worked under pressure during rush hours to ensure that all customers were getting served and receiving orders in a good space of time. I ensured that the bar was consistently kept clean and was always compliant with health and safety regulations. I worked with high volumes of orders at a time which taught me to work very well while being under pressure.
I also worked on the tills and had to do the money round ups at the end of the nights to make sure all tills complied with orders.
