Care Assistant - Davidson house, Salvation Army - Edinburgh
(2020-10 - 2026-03)
For the last five years I've worked as a care assistant working with the elderly in a residential care home. My job has many duties which include assisting elderly residents with their day to day living tasks. These include personal care (which includes assisting with showers/baths, assisting with dressing and also, with hygiene).
I also assist residents with meals when required and give choice to residents on what they would like to eat/drink. Although i feel that giving personal care is a massive part of my job my favourite part is spending time with residents. I can be taking a resident out on a trip to the cinema or a walk around the town or just sitting down with the resident to have a chat.
From building a relationship with residents and being there for them, this has given me excellent communication skills that I can adapt depending on who I am speaking with.
