Assistant Clinical Psychologist and Mental Health Support Worker

In my role as an Assistant Psychologist and Mental Health Support Worker with the NHS, I worked across various secure and high-security mental health units throughout London. My responsibilities involved supporting patients with acute mental health conditions such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and depression, helping them through their mental health recovery programs and monitoring their progress daily. In addition to therapeutic support, I dealt with a wide range of mental health issues, including emergencies, patient suicides, and escape attempts.
I regularly collaborated with police in the community for outreach patients and was responsible for escorting patients to hospital appointments and other necessary tasks. I also visited patients’ homes to assess and monitor their living conditions as part of the community outreach programs. My duties also included escorting patients for activities and arranging parties for patients during special occasions within the hospital to enhance their social well-being.
I worked closely with psychiatrists, mental health nurses, clinical psychologists, and occupational therapists to design and implement tailored therapy programs. I often engaged patients in therapeutic activities such as music therapy, art therapy, and cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), encouraging their active participation in these programs to support their recovery. Additionally, I submitted detailed reports to the clinical team, tracking patient outcomes and contributing to care strategy discussions.
I was responsible for writing daily reports for my dedicated patients, overseeing a 23-bed secure male ward, and creating individualized reports for 5-7 patients each day. These reports were crucial for ensuring that patient progress and needs were clearly communicated to the multidisciplinary team. My teams in both the outreach and psychiatric multidisciplinary units held daily handover and debrief meetings, in addition to weekly team meetings to discuss patient progress and care plans.
Collaboration within these teams ensured that all aspects of patient care were managed effectively. Furthermore, I underwent regular training for managing patients’ problems, learning how to de-escalate situations both verbally and physically. This included control and restraint training, which was essential for dealing with challenging behaviours in a safe and professional manner.

As an Aviation Security Officer at London Heathrow Airport with G4S, I was responsible for maintaining the highest levels of security at one of the world’s busiest airports. My duties included operating x-ray machines to screen passenger baggage, conducting thorough searches of both passengers and luggage, and performing regular patrols of airport premises. I was also tasked with recording, searching, and screening all vehicles entering and exiting the airside, as well as inspecting aircraft.
I was responsible for guarding airplanes internally and externally prior to take-off, ensuring the security of the aircraft. Additionally, I conducted biometric screenings of passengers, which involved body and baggage searches, and checking passports and travel documents. I was responsible for monitoring CCTV systems to ensure they were fully operational and up to date.
I also coordinated daily handovers with other security supervisors to ensure a seamless transition between shifts. Regular training was a key part of my role to stay current with security procedures and threat detection protocols. Beyond airport security, I was responsible for securing high-profile locations, including the GE Capital facility and Royal Air Force bases.
I also ensured the security of British Airways’ headquarters, working in control rooms, monitoring CCTV, screening visitors, and overseeing the security of the premises. Safeguarding valuable assets and ensuring the safety of these locations were key responsibilities. My extensive experience in managing security operations under high-pressure conditions has been a valuable asset in my professional career.
