David Calderwood

I'm a husband, proud father of two and someone who believes that hard work, integrity and treating people properly go a long way, both in life and at work.

I've spent my career in the scaffolding industry, progressing from working on the tools to managing large teams and complex projects. I'm currently a Contracts Manager, responsible for overseeing scaffolding operations across East Anglia.

I've always been a people person. I enjoy leading teams, developing individuals and finding solutions to difficult challenges. I believe the best results come from looking after your people, setting clear expectations and never compromising on safety.

Outside of work, family is everything to me. I enjoy keeping fit, challenging myself and have completed marathons to raise money for charity. I think those experiences have taught me a lot about discipline, resilience and the importance of pushing yourself beyond what you think you're capable of.

I'm ambitious and always looking to develop, but equally important to me is being part of a team and organisation whose values align with my own.

I want to be known as someone who works hard, does the right thing and can be relied upon when it matters.

Contracts Manager | CJB Scaffolding Ltd

April 2026 – Present

Responsible for the operational and commercial management of scaffolding contracts across East Anglia, coordinating approximately 80 operatives across multiple construction sites.

Key responsibilities include

• Managing scaffold labour, supervisors, resources and daily operations.
• Planning and coordinating scaffolding works against principal contractor programmes.
• Overseeing scaffold safety, inspections, RAMS and temporary works compliance.
• Coordinating complex access and temporary roof installations.
• Liaising with principal contractors, designers and site management teams.
• Managing commercial variations, client expectations and programme changes.
• Providing leadership and resolving operational and safety challenges across multiple sites.

Experience includes working with major contractors on complex construction projects, including custodial facilities, high-rise refurbishment, education and heritage buildings.
