I have over 20 years experience in the double glazing trade. I have been involved in various aspects of the trade since I left school in 2003. I have fabricated in the plastic shop where I learnt to weld, hang and bead windows, cut profile and clean cills.
I also learnt to fabricate resi and composite doors. I have experience in running glass shops, where I learnt to cut glass, seal units, lead, bevel and stain glass, and fit georgian bars. I have been out on site and taught myself to fit whilst being self employed.
I fitted bays, windows, doors, French doors, sliding patios and bifolds. This period of self employment not only helped me gain experience in the foeld of fitting, but also helped me gain experience in customer service and dealing with any problems that my customers had. I also had to go out and chase any work I was able to win and provide surveys for each job, which I then had to order.
I have been a window and door service engineer for the past 2 years, where my duties include glazing new units, changing handles and locks, forced entries and I've also learnt to locksmith, where I was taught to drill, pull and bypass all different types of locks and cylinders. My duties in this role also include identifying faulty window and door mechanisms and sourcing new ones, surveying and ordering glass and gathering hardware for whatever a job may need for a first time fix. So I have pretty much worked and have experience on all apsects of the trade.
I am very punctual and very rarely miss days of work with illness. I have a wife and two 6 year old children, so obviously my job is important to me to he able to provide for my family, so I take my job seriously and have high standards, so I won't leave a job until I'm satisfied it meets the required standards. I have plenty of experience dealing with customers/tenants from my time as a window fitter and service engineer.
Also, during my time as a self employed fitter, I sub contracted to a company who have a contract with Sandwell Council fitting composite doors, and also sub contracted to another company who had a contract with BDHT changing handles, hinges and glass, so I have plenty of experience working for social housing groups and dealing with sometimes difficult tenants, including Sandwell Council, Midland Heart, BDHT and Stonewater.
