I am a hardworking person seeking employment in a role that will enable me to develop my skills to the fullest. I enjoy new challenges and am confident in new and evolving situations. I learn quickly and am adaptable to many varied situations.
I enjoy learning as much as I can, and alongside completing my BACP-accredited Counselling BSc at the University of East London, I have also completed various CPD courses, including ASIST Practical Suicide First Aid, a Mindfulness-based CBT course, and Kids Inspire's Trauma through the lens of neurodiversity.
Education and Counselling Access to HE Course at Southeast Essex College (2022– 2023). University of east london (2023-2026)
This was a full-time course in which I learnt how people develop and learn, and how a person's background can affect development and well-being. As well as basic counselling skills, I also learnt about several modalities and theories that underpin counselling, such as the Humanistic, CBT and Psychodynamic approaches. I also noticed I had a particular interest in Transactional Analysis. I passed all my modules with distinctions and found a passion for learning in a field I was interested in.
In my first year at the University of East London, I learned fundamental counselling skills such as active listening, paraphrasing, and recognising non-verbal cues. Through weekly triad sessions based on real-life scenarios from my cohort, I reflected on the strengths and challenges of applying these skills in practice. I also developed a deeper understanding of the Humanistic approach and strengthened skills such as empathy and unconditional positive regard.
In my second year, I studied the Psychodynamic approach and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), alongside counselling across the lifespan through modules focused on children and young people (CYP) and later life. Although I enjoy integrating different approaches into my work, I particularly value using CBT techniques and creating formulations to guide my clinical practice. In my final year, I further developed my professional and reflective practice through supervision assessments, strengthening my ability to evaluate my therapeutic work, apply ethical principles, and respond constructively to feedback.
I also completed a dissertation exploring the experiences of dyslexic trainee counsellors in clinical and educational settings. This research increased my understanding of neurodiversity and highlighted the importance of inclusivity and accessibility within counselling training and practice. Overall, my degree has helped me develop strong interpersonal, reflective, and analytical skills that continue to support my growth as a trainee counsellor.
Trainee Counsellor - Clinical Practice Placement at Life Perspective (Present)
I have completed over 100 hours of face-to-face clinical practice hours on my placement at Life Perspective, working with a wide range of clients with a variety of presenting problems such as anxiety, depression and low self-worth. I have thoroughly enjoyed building strong therapeutic relationships with my clients, and I look forward to developing my skills further. I am currently still practicing at Life Perspective and working towards completing 450 hours for accreditation.
