Air Engineering Technician • Royal Navy
207 Squadron - Conducted mechanical maintence duties such as flight inspections (before and after flight inspections), scheduled maintence, routine maintence and marshalling aircraft.
Wheel and Tyre Bay – Conducted maintenance on aircraft wheel hubs such as remove and replace wheel assembly components including inflation valves, safety valves, O-ring seals, heat shields and high temperature indicating plugs.
Performed visual inspections on aircraft wheel hubs to ensure no defects. If defects are within damage limitations repair were preformed such as blending impact damage, cleaning, tape marking before applying primer and topcoat paint. Both primer and topcoat paint were carcinogenic, so forced air masks and PPE were used). Performed inflation and pressure checks on refurbished aircraft wheels.
