Deonne Lemard

My name is Deonne and I have 8 years experience in the beauty/spa industry, however, would like to change into the career of teaching in a primary school setting. I have always had a passion for teaching people things and a joy when someone can learn something, no matter how small. I am naturally empathetic, caring, imaginative, a good listener, motivator and I enjoy teamwork and seeing people thrive and improve.

I think that my transferable skills such as being highly organised and adaptable will be a good fit for helping in the classroom. I look forward to helping children reach their full potential.

• Developed my time management by beginning and ending treatments on time then helping out in different roles of the spa, showing adaptability in high pressure environments
• Strengthened clear communication so the guests could understand step by step what I would be doing.
• Achieved safeguarding skills and high level of detail through consultations, admin reception duties, taking guests personal and payment details confidently over the phone
• Improved interpersonal skills due to different age ranges of guests which helped them feel heard and understood. Also meant I could recommend the right advice, future treatment or products.
• Utilized communication skills studying at London Wellness Academy to help teach people from different countries the massage and facial routines.

• Obtained DBS and helped with set up for the Youth DTI (Dreaming the Impossible) event

• Gained experience assisting with Step Forward Money Advice calls to support those struggling with debt. Strengthened my safeguarding, confidentiality and numeracy skills by completing accurate data entry.
• Experienced working with disadvantaged individuals with no judgement.

Preschool Team and Baby Team Volunteer - Heart Church

• Teaching preschool through play for example if they were playing with coloured blocks I would ask them what each colour was or how many there were.
• Creating a safe and warm environment for the children and listening to parents
• Enhanced my conflict resolution skills through stating boundaries, calmly mediating, helping to change their attention to something else (toy)
• Lead crafting station with them and encouraged their creativity and using different crayons for colour. Used positive uplifting language to show appreciation for what they had created.

• Developed active listening by attending meetings and listening to peers concerns and discussed improvements for the college.

Experience working with family/friends children - Family/friends

Really enjoyed seeing their development. I helped with reading and deescalating tantrums and crying especially for separation anxiety. Active listening when they were upset.
