Construction Management BSc | Placement Site Manager | Graduate Site Management Candidate
My exposure to the industry goes beyond the lectures and experiences that I received in the university. Growing up, shadowing my father has given me a "boots on the ground" perspective that many applicants lack. I've seen firsthand how a project's success depends on the delicate balance between quality, time, and budget.
This upbringing, paired with the practical problem-solving skills learned in my construction management studies, has instilled in me a genuine work ethic and a clear-eyed understanding of on-site challenges. I have transferable skills and dependable ethical values to manage and produce results in efficient ways. Looking forward, I am particularly motivated by the challenge of improving construction delivery through better planning, coordination and sustainable site practices.
I believe that cost-effectiveness, quality and eco-friendly methods and quality management can work together when projects are managed properly. My goal is to use my construction management knowledge to support efficient programme delivery, safer site operations and sustainable construction methods that provide long-term values. I honestly want to be part of your company; proving modern construction can be both practical and environmentally responsible.
I took one year gap placement year to engage in practical Construction Management as an undergraduate. This equipped me with 12+ months of practical live site management experience on a major high-rise student accommodation project. This provided me with reliable exposure to site coordination, quality assurance, defect management, health and safety, logistics, subcontractor communication and daily reporting.
As part of my roles and development, I was able to work confidently around operatives, managers and project teams, with a practical understanding of programme pressure, site sequencing and maintaining safer workspaces for all, organizing working areas and ensuring compliance with the company expectations and goals. While my line manager was on annual leave, I was particularly delegated to lead the project, holding meetings and providing evidence of progress daily. This was a good opportunity to prove my management skills and transferable skills, it was very fantastic experience, and I look forward to passing on my skills and experiences to contribute positively to your company.
