I graduated from Edinburgh University with a 2:1 in Physics BSc and, having thoroughly enjoyed my courses in Simulation Programming and Data Processing using Python, turned to up-skilling in Front- and Back-end Development. I quickly picked up the fundamentals of building websites with HTML/CSS, JavaScript and React, and have recently graduated from a high-intensity Software Engineering Bootcamp where I learned the fundamentals of being a Software Developer.
I spent my university years in part-time customer service work, balancing it with university society committee responsibilities. Later, during the pandemic, I switched to a full-time role as a shift supervisor. This has provided me with valuable experience of listening to and understanding other people's needs, as well as working within and leading a team.
In university, I spent my 3rd and 4th year working on team coding projects, visualising Physics-based systems, creating data collection software and working on an international Astrophysics research group to aid in research.
Afterwards, I earned several certificates in Responsive Web Design, Front-End Libraries and Data Visualisation from freeCodeCamp - this has been the basis for my front-end portfolio.
Most recently, I've taken HyperionDev's Software Engineering Bootcamp to finalise and aid my switch to a Developer career - I learned all fundamentals of the software development lifecycle, as well as best practices and methodologies such as Version Control and Test-Driven Development. I'm happy to say I finished at the top of my cohort with a perfect score and consistently received praise for my Python-based projects.
