I am a 16-year-old reliable and disciplined student with a proactive and curious mindset. I am quick to learn and have a logical, practical approach to problem-solving. I believe engineering is a creative field where you can question, explore, and build new ideas.
I enjoy hands-on activities such as building Lego by following instructions, then taking it apart and redesigning it in my own way. I also maintain my bike and take a strong interest in how things work. Watching my dad, who is an electrician, has helped me understand practical skills, and I have also learned a lot about maintenance environments from my mum, who works in facilities management.
With a passion for science, I enjoy working with mechanical and electrical systems to understand how they operate. I am keen to develop my technical skills and industry knowledge through a maintenance engineering apprenticeship, where I can learn from experienced professionals and build a strong foundation in engineering. Through my work experience with NHS Blood & Transplant, being part of a YBL (Oxford Hoops) basketball team, and my role as a young carer, I have developed strong teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills.
These experiences have also helped me build resilience, responsibility, and good time management, as I balance school, sport, and family commitments. I am currently studying for my GCSEs at Matthew Arnold School in Oxford. I am a motivated and responsible student with strong work ethic, good organisation, and the ability to manage a busy schedule.
I would like to pursue an apprenticeship because I prefer hands-on learning and want to gain real-world experience while earning a qualification. My work experience has reinforced my interest in working for an innovating research company and in engineering and confirmed that this is the right pathway for me. I am confident that I can contribute positively and add value to your organisation.
