After having children at a young age, I attended West Suffolk College in 1998 and achieved a pass in an Access to Higher Education [Psychology, History, sociology and English]. I worked in Hospitality for eight years but found that I was not fulfilled as a person, so I then went into the care sector where I found that my career thrived. I have achieved an NVQ2, NVQ3, Medication Management.
I became very aware of people that lived in the home in which I worked in that had different needs, so I then decided to go to work in a home that had a community that people with dementia lived on, this is where I found my vocation, I attended all of the training that I could including a six month course with dementia UK in 2014, this course was funded by the National Health Service and Norfolk and Suffolk Dementia Alliance and became educator of the year for Suffolk, which was one of my greatest achievements. I became a dementia care coach [trainer] and attended Worcester university on a leadership in dementia course. I am a people person and happy being around all types of people.
I have attended a clinical governance training course which I passed. I am passionate about my job and love to educate people promoting a greater understanding around all care issues, especially dementia. I have worked with Shine a light, which is a charity that works with the community trying to create a dementia friendly environment.
I have facilitated dementia talks for members and the wider community, the hope being to create a community that is an educated dementia friendly environment.
