I am a hardworking and committed individual who is very keen to start off my career in industry. I have good practical skills and enjoyed developing these skills in my college course. I can work independently on my own initiative as well working as a member of a team. I consider myself to have good interpersonal skills and able to build relationships with persons at all levels.

Fitting Apprentice - Aberpergwm colliery

(2024-09)

I have worked here as a fitting apprentice for 2 years.

In the mechanical workshop repairing old parts and components. Most of this consists of changing o-rings and seals and refurbishing Joy Quadbolter drilling rigs.
In the garage working on Sandvik and EIMCO Free steered vehicles (FSV's). This consists of brake testing every 6 weeks, changing hydraulic hoses, fault finding hydraulic problems and occasionally changing engines.
Underground building new machines such as Joy 12CM15, Joy 10SC32 and Joy Quadbolters. This gave me a better understanding of complex hydraulic drawings and give me better understanding of the machines layout of hydraulic components.
In the district covering breakdowns, usually changing perished hoses or damaged o-rings. Also we do preventive maintenance such as greasing and pressure testing drilling rigs and pumps on all machines, along with daily, weekly and 6 weekly checks to ensure everything is in a safe working order.
On the belt run covering any breakdowns within the conveyor belts, Drives or rollers. This consists of ensuring that all conveyor belts are safe and free from any wear and tear. Ensuring that all drive roller bearings are maintained by being greased sufficiently and are in working order.

Production Operator - Express Reinforcements Ltd

Production operator responsible for manufacturing steel rebar rods for the construction industry.
Experienced in operation of plant machinery including threading machines and automated bandsaw's.
Responsible for checking quality of manufactured rebar.
Accountable for productivity and ensure that KPI's are achieved.
Attended morning production meetings as part of the team.
Knowledge of workplace H&S and PPE requirements for the job.

Machine Operator / Yard Labourer - Tegfan Groundworks

Landscape Gardener Assistant - Gardens 4 You

I worked with a landscape gardener on a part-time basis. I carried out several duties on my own such as cutting bushes, removing fencing and cleaning garden waste. I also worked with others as part of a team on larger projects such as tree felling and erecting garden fencing.

This job gave me the experience of talking to customers and ensuring they were happy with the work we carried out. In addition, I carried out jobs using the appropriate PPE and risk assessed the task before starting. The job itself meant that I worked outside in all weather, and I needed to be flexible in my approach to work hours.
