I have twenty years of experience in social care as a qualified and registered Social Worker. I am a specialist in Safeguarding Children and Adults, Mental Health and Mental Capacity law and have practice experience across the health and social care sector. I have worked as an Independent Reviewer for Safeguarding Adult Reviews, and Multi-Agency Partnership Reviews. As a Health and Social Care Consultant I have offered thematic review work, training, conference and workshop facilitation, and service development and improvement. I have experience as an Investigating Officer for Root Cause Analysis in the NHS, and have experience of reviewing organisational structures, thematic review of safeguarding culture, and audit. I am qualified and experienced in undertaking statutory reviews using the SCIE Learning Together methodology, and other systems learning methodologies.

I have strategic leadership experience in Safeguarding (child and adult) in a large integrated Community and Mental Health NHS Trust and am a member of Local Safeguarding Adults Boards, Domestic Abuse Partnership Boards, and Local Safeguarding Children’s Partnerships in several Authorities, including sub-groups and committees. I have a keen interest in policy development, statutory review work, training, quality assurance and governance. I have experience in investigation work and have carried out bespoke service reviews of safeguarding culture within clinical services. I have designed and implemented a structure and methodology for clinical services Safeguarding Peer Reviews and have support practice improvement. Within the NHS Trust I have also led on the Social Work agenda, ethics and law, and a number of workstreams including domestic violence and abuse, prevent, addressing inequalities, and allegations management.
