I am very happy with my current position as a Dental Nurse in a well established private clinic in Lincoln, but due to cost of living concerns I will be returning to live in Boston. Dentistry is my passion; long term I hope to study Dental Therapy, but with courses in high demand I would like to settle in a rewarding role that challenges me and allows me to contribute to the community.
The majority of my experience has been in NHS dental practices working between administrative and my clinical role as a Dental Nurse. This involves preparing clinical areas for procedures, providing chairside assistance, ensuring high standards of infection control, maintaining and validating equipment, managing stock and expiry dates and updating patient records.
My Lead Nurse position was incredibly rewarding and I especially enjoyed training and supporting student dental nurses throughout their NVQ. I also developed many skills I had gained during my own NVQ such as cashing up, fire safety tasks, stock ordering, legionella control, auditing and handling complaints.
During college I worked at as a care assistant; this role and the individuals I met taught me a huge amount about kindness, resilience and the impact of staff attitude on achieving positive outcomes for service users. I also worked part time as a cleaner at Lincoln College during this period so have experience maintaining environmental hygiene.
