I have wanted to be a primary school teacher since I was 4. I am passionate about teaching early-age students and helping special education needs students with their learning.
During my time at university, I had the opportunity to undertake a 40-day placement in a school, which was related to early-age teaching. This placement was an optional module that allowed me to gain valuable experience. Throughout the placement, I observed lessons in Key Stage 1 and 3, such as English, Maths, and Physical Education.
I also engaged in discussions with teachers regarding lesson planning, created plans for students with SEN, and provided suggestions on how to address their specific needs. I was exposed to various teaching methodologies and classroom behavioural management techniques, including a firm yet empathetic approach. I witnessed the impact of different class sizes, from normal class settings to small groups and one-to-one training.
