I currently study a Film and Media BA at The University of Stirling as I love having an outlet for creativity that isn’t found in day-to-day life. Creating digital art is a hobby of mine where I use programs such as Photoshop and Premiere Pro and post my finished projects on YouTube and Instagram. I have experience in customer facing at the Cotton Print Factory Shop which has provided me with the ability to handle customer queries with confidence and professionalism.
Working as a teacher’s assistant in a primary school allowed me to achieve the ability to coordinate large groups of children. It can be especially hard to handle misbehaving children in the workplace but working side by side with a teacher allowed me to adopt the same skills.
Part-time Warehouse Assistant, The Cotton Print, Glasgow (June 2016 – August 2016) Duties included: • Warehouse work, stock replenishment, order filling, customer engagement. Transferable skills: • Organisation skills were tested as everything was done to strict time constraints. Improved communication skills as my duties were explained only once in a busy working environment, so listening well and learning fast was essential to productivity.
Primary School, Teachers Assistant (unpaid work experience) (May 2016 – May 2016) Duties included:
• Assisting the teacher with organising the activities.
• Helping children individually with class work such as reading.
• Running errands for the teacher such as fetching supplies so not to waste the teacher’s time.
• Learning about the teacher’s duties beyond teaching the pupils, such as writing up questions and marking work.
• Getting to know the pupils and what they really struggle with so that I can personally help or relay the information onto the teacher.
• Communication • Ability to interact with younger people in groups
Dog Walker (Current) Duties included: • Walking and exercising customer dog(s) • Feeding dogs when applicable Transferable skills: • Cleanliness and hygiene • Engagement with clients
