My name is Elyse Dolan, and I am a 22-year-old Stirling University graduate; Bachelor of Arts with Honours, specialising in English Studies, and I write in regard to the possibility of any upcoming full-time job vacancies in the foreseeable future. I am acutely aware, and fully respect the severity of the toll that the pandemic has taken upon the job market in recent years. However, as a recent university graduate, I would just like to express my interest in a working position and attach my CV for your consideration.
As a conscientious individual with excellent communication skills and potential, I can work well in a team environment, as well as independently, using the skills gained from the acquisition of my English degree. My interest and experience in travel makes me an excellent candidate for the potential of work across a variety of different locations, and seasonal work. During my four years at Stirling University, I was presented with the opportunity to engage with a plethora of literature and media, and carry out intensive study, invigorating assignments and strict examinations of novels, short-stories, poetry, film, television, plays, scripts, ending in a dissertation surrounding the literary work of the Brontë sisters in my final semester of university.
It was my love for Charlotte Brontë’s Jane Eyre (1847), that encouraged this decision. Growing up as a young woman in Glasgow, I have an inherent passion for witty, engaging literature, melancholy music, and devastating film & media, particularly period dramas, and especially when experienced at Glasgow Film Theatre. Therefore, I feel strongly about working closely in a field that cherishes the power and liberation of the written or spoken word.
