During my time at Nerdy Café, I gained valuable experience in hospitality and customer service.

I learned the importance of teamwork, attention to detail, and maintaining a clean, well-organised environment. My role included serving customers, ensuring stock was rotated and replenished, and supporting behind-the-scenes jobs to help my colleagues and manager to keep the café running smoothly. I am grateful for the opportunity I had at Nerdy Café, where I was encouraged and supported by both management and colleagues.

• Greet guests warmly upon arrival.
• Present menus and explain specials or promotions.
• Answer questions about the menu, ingredients, and dietary restrictions.
• Take accurate food and drink orders.
• Provide recommendations when asked.
• Enter orders into the POS (point-of-sale) system accurately.
• Relay orders promptly to the kitchen/bar.
• Double-check orders before serving.
• Deliver food and beverages to the correct tables.
• Ensure dishes meet presentation and quality standards.
• Check back with guests to ensure satisfaction.
• Refill drinks and attend to additional needs during the meal.
• Clear empty dishes and keep the table tidy throughout service.
• Reset tables quickly and neatly for new guests.
• Wipe down and sanitise tables and chairs between customers.
• Prepare and present the bill when requested.
• Process cash, credit/debit card, and contactless payments accurately.
• Handle tips appropriately.
• Maintain a clean section at all times.
• Follow food safety and hygiene standards.
• Assist in end-of-shift cleaning duties: sweeping, mopping, polishing cutlery, etc.
• Communicate clearly with other servers and management.
• Assist colleagues during busy periods or cover sections when needed.
• Suggest specials, drinks, or desserts to boost sales.
• Promote offers or loyalty schemes when appropriate.
• Address minor complaints calmly and professionally.
• Notify management of more serious issues promptly.
• Attend staff briefings or training sessions if required.
• Restock condiments, napkins, and service stations.
• Stock rotation.
• Help with opening/closing procedures (depending on shift) if needed.
• Make hot and iced drinks - some experience in latte art.
