Independent Panel Member - CQC
(2024)
As an IPM, my role is to sit on the interview panel from start to finish, and ensure the process is fair to all candidates and that any reasonable adjustments are upheld. I start with independently reviewing all of the applications, and organising them for shortlisting, we then meet as a panel to discuss our results and moderate, and choose the final candidates that will move on to interview stage. I then actively sit on the interview panel, ask questions, hold the panel to account for fairness, and try to ensure that the process is pleasant for all of those involved, especially the interviewees.
The panel then reconvenes to discuss what marks the individual interviewers have provided, and discuss each candidate and moderate those scores, until a successful candidate is found. I am then involved in any feedback processes the successful or unsuccessful candidates wish to have.
