I work as theatre practitioner. Nuffield has 4 theatres. The specialties are mainly, orthopaedics, general and ENT. I have more experience in Orthopedics but I am aware they will rotate us in time so we can have chance to learn the skills on other specialties and I don't mind that. We work with different disciplinary teams. Prepare theatres from the instruments and make team is complete to prepare for thelist. Patient's safety is the paramount in every single performance we do.

We administer biologic infusion to the patients with autoimmune disorders such as IBD (Inflammatory Bowel Diseases) like Crohn's and Ulcerative Colitis, Systemic Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis, Asthma and Rheumatoid Arthritis. We deal with patients too with low iron and low hemoglobin that need Iron infusion or blood transfusion. I worked as an orthopedic scrub nurse. There are 7 orthopedic theaters in the hospital. We perform elective and trauma cases for both adults and pediatrics. We specialize in spinal, joint replacement, fixations and any orthopedic trauma.
We work with the disciplinary team. The whole team involved with the patients care for safety. We adhere to theater guidelines by starting the list with a team brief, checking the time out and sign out on each patient every case.

I worked here as an orthopedic theater scrub nurse. There are 29 theaters and we cover 4 orthopedic theaters. We do spines, trauma and elective orthopedic lists. We are rotated to all theaters so we are skilled with various orthopedic operations such as joint arthroplasty and revisions.
We scrub and set up for spinal fusions, Ex fix on limbs and pelvis. ORIF in any fractures such as PFNA, DHS, Femoral, Tibial Nailing, Fibula Nailing, Hemiarthroplasty. In a trauma meeting we attend to discuss with the whole team such as the anesthetist, ortho registrars/SHO, about the trauma cases, about the plan and equipment required.
I make sure I organize the briefing before sending the patient and cascade the message if any changes or amendments are done. I work or scrub with different consultants. I make sure sure that all equipments are ready and sterile before putting patients to sleep.
We always maintain sterile equipment and areas. Charnley tent should be turned on first thing in the morning before setting up. Make sure all the equipment's ready. Inform the team of any issues. Cooperate with the disciplinary team.
