Self-employed as a Counsellor and Psychotherapist with Gentian Counselling and Psychotherapy CIC. Also own a bookshop in Barnard Castle where I see clients, groups and families.
Counselling and Psychotherapy seeks to bring counselling to those who are in financial difficulties. We maintain that counselling should not be a luxury but should be available to all. We endeavour to fund our activities through grant aid. We have partnered with another CIC in our area to reach out to groups and individuals in an area of deprivation where the need is great but there is a paucity of services.

Founded Igneous Counselling and Psychotherapy in 2013. Worked in private practice delivering counselling face to face, over telephone and online to clients living with a variety of mental health difficulties and addiction.
Project Manager - Lifeline - The Project - Stockton on Tees
(2009 - 2013)
Project managed a community alcohol service in Stockton on Tees. The Project by Lifeline was run in partnership with the NHS, Stockton Borough Council and the Cleveland Police and the Probation Service. The aim was to offer structured day services and psychotherapy to those affected by alcohol.
Midwifery Lecturer - Teesside University

Employed as a Midwifery Lecturer. Seconded from the clinical area on a two year contract to deliver anatomy and physiology, evidence based practice and medical ethics to undergraduate midwives in the School of Health.
Midwife - Durham and Darlington NHS Trust
(2001 - 2007)
Engaged as a Midwife for Durham and Darlington NHS Trust. Worked in the Midwifery Led Unit and in the Community. Specialized in working with vulnerable women who had a history of homelessness, domestic violence and drug and or alcohol use.
Tutor - Holme House Prison
(1992 - 1998)
Worked as a tutor at Holme House Prison in conjunction with Phoenix House to deliver an education programme on a Drug free wing. This project was funded and led by Teesside University. Duty was to deliver a health education programme and basic skills to prisoners who elected to move to a drug free wing. Also worked as a tutor at Holme House Prison from 1992-1993 to deliver basic skills to prisoners in a project led and funded by Teesside University.
