I am an operating department practitioner with excellent communication skills. I am an extremely hardworking, responsible, and dependable individual. I have an exceptional understanding of the safety standards and precautions required during operations.
I am a good team player, able to work effectively within multi-disciplinary teams, with the ability to learn from failure and see it as an opportunity to learn and improve. I can multitask and work effectively under pressure in emergencies. I am a passionate, highly motivated, and professional individual who works within the HCPC Standard of Proficiency, Code of Conduct, and the local trust's guidelines and policies.
A sound patient advocate throughout their surgery, with the ability to contribute and maintain a safe environment in accordance with Health and Safety/Infection Control guidelines. I value and treat patients and colleagues with respect, always maintaining a professional and caring attitude. As a preoperative theatre practitioner, I can work in three areas: Scrub, Anaesthetics, and Recovery.
However, I am currently specialising in the Scrub area, where I move between different specialities, including obstetrics, gynaecology, general surgery, breast surgery, urology, ophthalmology (cataract), orthopaedic hand, colorectal, and others, while ensuring the best possible surgical outcome for the patient. Also, I can help facilitate this quickly and efficiently, with due regard for aseptic technique. All the experiences I have gained have motivated me in my career to continue developing new roles.

I work as part of the scrub theatre team, where I move around different theatres, such as Obstetrics, Gynaecology, General Surgery, Breast Surgery, Urology, Maxillofacial Surgery, Colorectal and Cepod, to provide high standards of care and support during each phase of the patient's perioperative experience. I work as part of the Cepod team, where I assist the surgeon during emergency operations. I also hold the obstetric beeps during night shift for any emergencies, such as category one obstetrics and assisted vaginal birth (ventouse).

I work as part of a theatre team to provide high standards of care and support to patients throughout their theatre journey, for instance, ensuring all necessary patient checks are completed before the operation (using 5-stage WHO checklists). Responsible for preparing each surgical anaesthetic procedure and all of the required anaesthetic equipment in readiness for all types of anaesthetics or the recovery of a patient. Ensure patient records are complete, both on the theatre computer system and manually, in compliance with Local Health Board policies and Information Governance/data protection requirements.
Preparation of the operating room ready for surgery and supporting the care of patients during the procedure, whilst assisting the surgeon during surgery and reporting any concerns and issues to the team leader.
