I worked in a busy hospitality setting back home in Northern Ireland, maintaining strict hygiene standards and keeping the dining area consistently well-organised so guests enjoyed a clean and comfortable experience throughout their visit. Through calm, time-sensitive service and attentive communication, I strengthened customer satisfaction by anticipating needs, resolving issues quickly and maintaining a positive, guest-focused attitude. I supported smooth operations by completing opening and closing duties, preparing the dining space, and working closely with colleagues during high-pressure periods to keep service running efficiently.

I also handled financial tasks with accuracy, documenting orders, calculating bills and processing payments to ensure each shift was fully reconciled without errors. Alongside this, I managed multiple customers at once, prioritising effectively and coordinating with kitchen teams to meet special requests and dietary requirements while keeping waiting times low.

During this placement period, I gained invaluable experience in a dynamic work environment at a local fashion design business. I learned important techniques, including the analysis of appropriate fabrics. I was fortunate enough to practice what I had learned, where I created a pattern using my measurements.

Engaging in various stitching techniques helped me refine and develop my textile design skills. My project drew inspiration from the sophisticated aesthetics of the 1970s, as I tried to capture a lifestyle that was both uncomplicated and elegant, meticulously aligning my design with my artistic vision. I hope to continue to develop my Skills in a variety of workplaces.
