Mature and hard-working and sociable. I left school in April 2026 and would love to work in childcare in a nursery however right now I don't think it's the best time for me and I'm considering other options or potentially going to college. I have experience in retail, volunteering and in nurseries all of which I use a variety of skills in such as working in a team, attention to detail and efficient communication.
I am currently looking for part time employment in retail or hospitality where I can interact with people and provide friendly and efficient customer service. Ideally I would be looking for weekday shifts.
Nursery Worker - Various - Edinburgh, Scotland
(2023-07 - 2026-06)
The dates I have put from when I started working to when I stopped include all my volunteering and work as a whole so the dates aren't from one specific job, its just from when they started to when they stopped. I have volunteered a range of different nurseries those being Pentland Primary School Nursery, Bonaly Primary School Nursery and Forbes Road nursery. I also volunteered with rainbows and worked at another nursery for sometime.
I really want to work in childcare and thoroughly enjoy it at these. I'd be constantly interacting with the children and helping them thrive and learn through different play. I have to be able to multi-task and have quick thinking when it comes to being in these environments I really enjoyed being able to have that interaction with the children and found it made me very motivated and proud and I've had feedback about me being good with children and I've thoroughly enjoyed my time all the nurseries.
Retail Assistant - Heart of Midlothian - Edinburgh, Scotland
(2023-08 - 2025-07)
I worked here for almost 2 years. The job involved making sure the shop floor was clean and that items were organised and tidy, stocking shelves and assisting customers on the floor and on tills. I really enjoyed this, especially interacting with customers.
The shop would get very busy on match days so I have experience with very fast paced environments and having to work through that while maintaining a positive welcoming atmosphere in the shop. I did get feedback that I was particularly good with customers I used to go through to a hospitality suite to do a mini pop-up shop, which I really enjoyed as I got more customer interaction I did this while being in school through secondary five and secondary six I found I was able to balance work and school even if it was stressful. I would deal with different issues and situations such as calmly dealing with unhappy customers making sure the floor was tidy and well stoked and working together with my colleagues to create the best possible environment for the team and the customers.
I'm also a big hearts fan myself so to be provided the opportunity to work with the club was incredible
Volunteer - Heart of Midlothian - Edinburgh, Scotland
(2020-12 - 2023-03)
From 2020 through to 2023 my dad and I have been volunteering with the football club Hearts Football Club's charity, Big Hearts. During the COVID lockdown I was actively involved with the preparation, packing and delivering of packed lunches to the homeless (in conjunction with Social Bite, a charity for the homeless and also to the children of key workers). Although my volunteering wasn't directly involved with children it was rewarding to know how much our work benefited young children and those in need.
At a recent charity football match I went around with a money bucket and explained what the charity did. I handed out promotional material (such as stickers and flags) and got the children at the game engaged by handing the the gifts out and explaining what the charity did in a simple, easy to understand way. I am also good at engaging with those older than me as I am responsible and polite and have good people skills.
