Evan Lees

I have just finished my second year of further education at Edinburgh College studying Sports Therapy. My first year was an HNC in Soft Tissue Therapy where I became a qualified soft tissue specialist, the second year was HND in Sports Therapy, where I became a qualified Sports Therapist. I am experienced in injury assessment, diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation planning, and sports massage.

Other skills that I am qualified in are the application of Kinesio Tape and Rigid Tape, and cold and heat therapies. I can also utilise Electrotherapy modalities such as Ultrasound, TENS Machine, Shockwave Therapy and Blood flow restriction Therapy. Outside of my studies I am a Judo Coach where I teach judo to children between the ages of xx and xx.

This job has helped improve my communication skills, teamwork and working by myself. I have also competed for Great Britian internationally for judo which was a great experience.

Sports Therapy Student / Practical Training at Edinburgh College

Over the course of my 2 years at college, I accumulated 140 hours of hands-on work outside of college class times, treating various clients.

• Treated clients at the end of the Edinburgh Marathon
• Worked at Theban's rugby tournament, treating players the day before the tournament
• Worked with both the men's and women's Scottish rugby teams before upcoming games in the autumn tests and six nations, providing deep tissue massage upon the players request
• Team placement at judo club working with various athletes from recreational athletes to Olympians
• Provided mixture of treatments including taping athletes when required, assessing and diagnosing injuries, soft tissue therapy and providing rehabilitation plans for athletes
