I am excited to apply for the role in your organization that requires a combination of programming and data analysis skills. As someone who has recently completed an introduction to Python online course and has deepened my knowledge in bioinformatics, I believe I possess the skills that would be of great value to your team.

My recent bioinformatics project involved using Python to develop a novel technique for evaluating gait as a prognostic tool for high grade glioma. I utilized different Python toolkits, such as pandas, matplotlib, and scikit-learn, to apply statistical, machine learning, information visualization, text analysis, and social network analysis techniques. I was able to develop and test a fully supervised machine learning technique based on support vector machines (SVM) to classify accelerometer data as pure walking or mixed-walking for gait analysis.

Throughout this project, I had to overcome several technical hurdles, such as working with big data and low internal memory issues, which allowed me to develop creative solutions to overcome obstacles. I also had to find clear and compelling ways to communicate my findings to colleagues with varying areas of expertise, utilizing packages such as seaborn to produce visual tools like pie charts and heatmaps.

Currently, I am working at PHE/HSA, conducting oral fluid processing and serology testing in a project that involves studying the role of schools in coronavirus (COVID-19) transmission. I am involved in the data generation that will be analyzed and reported by data scientists to support policy and decision-making.
