About

I am a team-oriented worker, who enjoys learning new skills and then applying them to a problem in a group context. I work well in teams and individually, having competed in team-oriented sports all my life and to high levels, through focussing on improving myself and helping my teammates when they need it. I am also flexible and a quick learner, who is confident when communicating with customers & colleagues, as my work experience & sporting leadership shows.

I work in a design & manufacturing role, where I am responsible for full products development from concept to launch. I was the chairman for the Sheffield Hallam American Football team for a year, because I was trusted to be responsible, communicate effectively, and organise the team.

Experience

Design Technician - Fernco Inc - Wombwell

(2024-09)

I currently work for Fernco as a design technician for civil flood defence products. In this role I research, design, test, manufacture, cost & launch new flood defence products for UK & worldwide markets. In this role I am responsible for my own & supporting other development projects, from conception & justification through to designing, testing, manufacturing, marketing, implementation, and ongoing technical support.

I assist with daily technical enquiries & customer project specifications. I discuss manufacturing options, material selections & quotations for new developments. I generate & maintain project documentation alongside project planning & management.

I also conduct market research, product prototyping, testing, analysis to suggest new products to formally develop. I personally conduct all simulation testing of the department to compare with physical testing results, to allow for rapid CAD development & prototyping using simulations to save time & costs on these projects. I will also create custom/unique products for customers based on their specific requirements & needs, liaising with them alongside our sales team to deliver these unique products.

I worked in the branch network as a customer service advisor.

My responsibilities included: handling member queries which come with a wide variety of unique problems to solve using multiple systems, selling products to members based on information we gather during conversations, greeting and directing customers to the appropriate colleagues for help and organising the entire branch by restocking printers, pens, papers and other stationery. I also have received training on fraud, financial crime, and data protection during the training period I had.
