Gastroenterology, Urology & Minor Surgery

• Deliver high-quality nursing care to a diverse caseload of patients across gastroenterology, urology and minor surgical specialties.
• Complete holistic patient assessments and develop individualised, evidence-based care plans.
• Administer medications safely across all routes including intravenous therapy, ensuring compliance with Trust medicines management policies.
• Provide comprehensive wound care, dressing changes and drain management for post-operative patients.
• Manage urinary catheters (male, female and suprapubic), including insertion, care and patient self-management education.
• Support and educate patients living with stomas, promoting independence and confidence in self-care.
• Monitor patients using NEWS2 scoring, recognise clinical deterioration and escalate concerns promptly to medical and senior nursing staff.
• Collaborate effectively with MDT members including doctors, physiotherapists, dietitians and discharge coordinators to ensure coordinated, seamless care.
