During my time working for a building and tarmacking company, I was responsible for assisting with ground preparation, mixing and laying materials, and helping to set up and maintain a safe and organised worksite. I supported skilled tradespeople with tasks such as bricklaying, digging foundations, and laying tarmac on driveways, roads and footpaths. I learned how to use a variety of tools and machinery safely, always following health and safety procedures.
One of my main accomplishments was becoming trusted to carry out tasks independently with minimal supervision. I also gained a good understanding of teamwork and the importance of communicating clearly on site to get the job done efficiently. I took pride in working hard, staying reliable, and completing tasks to a high standard, even in challenging weather conditions.
This experience gave me valuable hands-on skills and a solid work ethic that I'm proud to carry forward into future roles.
